5 Steps to Create a Freedom Schedule

Do you ever feel like time just slips through your fingers?

You are not alone.

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to let our days get away from us, filled with unplanned events, endless demands, and distractions that pull us in every direction. But at the end of the day—or even the end of our lives—how many of us want to look back and realize that time just got away from us?

The good news is it doesn’t have to be that way. Time only gets away if we let it. We lose those precious hours when we don’t schedule our time with intention. But you can absolutely change that.

How do I know? Because I’ve done it. And our clients have done it. They have successfully created 25 (or less) hour work weeks that include all of the time with family, friends, and hobbies they desire!

From a business perspective, consider what your lost time costs you. Our clients have shown us that every hour spent on distractions is easily costing you $200,000 or more per year. How many potential sales have you missed out on? How many important conversations went unheard because your time was taken up by something else?

And that doesn’t even count the time taken away from your family and personal life, which is even more precious.

That’s why it’s crucial to create what I have coined a Freedom Schedule.” This schedule is designed to give you back control of your time, allowing you to prioritize what truly matters in your work and personal life.

Here’s how you can create your own Freedom Schedule:

  1. Plan a Year in Advance
Start by mapping out the next 12 months. It might seem daunting, but it’s essential for ensuring you have the time you need for everything that matters. Get a yearly calendar and start filling it in now.
  2. Create an Intentional Schedule
The first thing to schedule is to block time off—vacations, holidays, personal days. If you don’t schedule this time, you risk never taking it. Life will fill up your calendar with other demands if you let it.
  3. Make Time for Health and Wellness
Schedule time for your mental and physical health. Be specific about what you’ll do, whether it’s exercise, meditation, or simply downtime. If you don’t prioritize your well-being, everything else will suffer. Put it on your calendar for the next 12 months.
  4. Protect Family and Friends Time
Family and friend time is precious, yet it’s often the first to be sacrificed. Be deliberate about when and how you’ll spend time with your loved ones, and protect that time fiercely. Leave some room for flexibility, as life with family can be unpredictable. Get it on your calendar in writing!
  5. Plan Each Day with Intention
Finally, plan how you want to end each day. Set a specific time to close out your workday so you can transition smoothly into your personal time. Knowing when and how your workday will end allows you to be more productive and present in all areas of your life.

By creating a Freedom Schedule, you’ll find that your work time becomes more productive, your personal time more relaxing, and your family time more fulfilling. You’ll be amazed at how much time you can reclaim when you organize your life with intention.
