What Would Happen If You Believed?

Consider this: What would happen to you if you actually believed that you could do all the things you WANT to do?

Think about it! What would your life look like?

  • How would you spend your time?
  • What would your family be doing?
  • Where would you live?
  • How much time would you spend working?
  • Would you wake up with a passion to start your day?

Which begs the question: What is holding you back from having exactly that?

If you don’t know what it is that’s holding you back, that’s okay – because most people don’t! In fact, we aren’t taught in school how to dream big, set goals, and achieve. We need to learn how to do that!

So, start with this: What do you want? Most people THINK they know what they want but when it comes down to it, their real desires look quite different. So to get what you want, you need to define it and identify it.

To do that, you start by finding your One Great Goal. The One Great Goal process is simple:

  1. Start by writing down ten things that you do NOT want out of your professional life. This step is critical because it to clarify what you DO want.
  2. Write down ALL the goals and desires that you have for your work or professional life. (This can also be done for your personal life, but for now let’s focus on your work.)
  3. Now, pick the top 10,  and write them in a list.
  4. Go through your list and identify your top 5.
  5. From those, narrow them down to your top 2.
  6. Look at the last 2 and determine which one stands out to you the most. In other words, if you could achieve only one of these goals, which one would it be? Circle it.

That, my friend, is your One Great Goal.

Congratulations! Once you have your One Great Goal, you’re halfway there! You know what you want, so you can set your goals to be in alignment with your One Great Goal.

The next step: Shifting into the Belief Zone.

Here is where the magic happens. Because success is shockingly simple – more than anything, it just requires you to believe.

Now, here is where a lot of people mentally check out. They don’t want to hear about how their thoughts can change and alter their success. They are looking for a nuts-and-bolts bulleted to do list that leads them to guaranteed success.

But you see, I can say with absolute conviction after years of working with successful people, that success is less about what you do and more about what you believe!

Even if you are doing all the right things, all the boxes are checked, I’s are dotted, and T’s are crossed, but you don’t believe that you can succeed, you won’t!

Conversely….

When you believe that you can and will succeed but you don’t have all of the logistics right, somehow success seems to show up anyways!

Isn’t that interesting?

As beliefs go, which ones do you have that are limiting your progress? There are several limiting beliefs that I see on a consistent basis, and these tend to be some of the most common:

  1. “I am a pushy salesperson.”

Did you know that when you are working with your target client, you’re working with exactly the people who are searching for what you have! 81% of sales are closed after the 5th follow up? That means you need to get through the first 4 attempted follow ups before you get to the 5th, with an 81% success rate!

Furthermore, when a business owner calls to follow up with a prospect, nearly every time, that prospect responds with gratitude rather than annoyance.

So, replace this limiting belief with:
“I am a professionally persistent problem solver!”

  • “There isn’t enough money or clients for all!”

We tend to overthink the concept of money. The reality is that money is NOT complex.

To recieve what is coming to you in your sales and business, you need to be open to receive it – and part of that means believing that there is enough to go around! And there is ALWAYS enough money to go around!

So, replace this limiting belief with:
“Money flows to me easily and effortlessly every day.”

  • “I am not enough” or “I do not have enough experience.”

Too many people don’t believe that they are qualified to do what they do! It’s amazing because this limiting belief can be seen in people who are at all skill levels. I’ve seen this in business owners starting new businesses to skilled and highly educated professionals who have decades of experience to offer!

It’s a phenomenon called imposter syndrome – and it’s nonsense!

If you doubt your expertise in your field, go and talk to someone who works in a different industry than you – you’ll be amazed at how much you have to offer them!

    Replace this limiting belief with:

“I AM an expert in my industry!”

So, what would happen in your professional and personal life if you actually believed these things? What if you believed yourself to be the persistent problem solver, the expert, and that money came to you easily?

Can you imagine? Do you dare to try?

It’s a new year. Find your One Great Goal, change your limiting beliefs, and watch what happens to your 2019.
